Current Graduate Students
Mason Ward -PhD student
Mason’s research is focused on examining factors influencing the diversity of macroinvertebrate communities in vernal pond ecosystems.
Ibrahim Fagbohun -PhD student – starting Fall 2024
Ibrahim will be co-supervised with Dr. Dan Allen. His research is aimed at examining the feasibility of assisted migration of macroinvertebrate communities to improve ecological uplift in restored streams in the Chesapeake Bay.
Former students:
Christine Cornish -PhD (2024)
Dissertation: Anthropogenic stressors on freshwater wetlands: A microbial perspective.
Christine is currently a Postdoctoral Research at Virginia Tech with Dr. Austin Gray
Whitney Sauskojus -MS (2024)
Thesis: Wetland restoration in the North Dakota Prairie Pothole Region: A macroinvertebrate community perspective.
Whitney is currently an environmental consultant with Ulteig
Kui Hu – PhD (2023)
Dissertation: Evaluating past climate change effects on prairie pothole wetland ecosystems using limnological and paleolimnological methods.
Kui is currently a postdoc at the St. Croix Watershed Research Station in Minnesota
Kyle McLean – PhD (2020)
Kyle’s dissertation was focused on examining long-term records of aquatic macroinvertebrate communities and their responses to hydroclimatic variability in prairie pothole wetlands. Kyle works as an ecologist for the USGS at the Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center
Nate Williams – MS (2018)
Nate’s MS thesis focused on neonicotinoid pesticides and their impacts on aquatic invertebrate communities in the prairie pothole wetland ecosystem. He now works as a Wildlife Refuge Specialist with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in Illinois.
